Handgun TrainingBasic Pistol Shooting Course

Description: You will learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn the rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive a student workbook, membership to Liberty Twp. Sportsmen’s Association and course completion certificate.  Students are encouraged to use their own guns and ammo, but don’t worry if you don’t have, we will supply them for you.  We have have mixed gender and ladies only classes.  Check our class schedule for upcoming classes.  [Classes get 10-15 minute breaks every hour.  The all day courses break for an hour mid-day to allow students a chance to get something to eat and travel to the range.  Plan accordingly for snack, lunch, drinks, etc.]

What you will need: You will need to finish paying for your class, if you haven’t done so.  You’ll need a pen/pencil, but if you forget, we have pens for you to use.  If you have your own handgun, you’re encouraged to use it in the class, as long as it’s safe and in good repair.  We generally shoot about 50 rounds during the live fire portion of the class, but it wouldn’t hurt to have extra with you.  If you don’t have a handgun yet, we can provide one for you to use.  There is no cost for use of the pistol, but you will have to purchase a box of ammunition for the live fire portion of the class.  You will use your handgun in the classroom portion of the class, but absolutely no live ammunition in the classroom!  And that’s everything you will need for your class.

Cost of course: $120 per student

Note: Generally classes will meet as follows: Mixed Gender classes convene at the shop at 8am and run until 5 – 5:30pm (time will vary based on number of students in the class).  You will have an hour break for lunch mid-day and will reconvene at the range for the live fire portion of the class; afterward you will return to the shop to finish up the remaining lessons.  The Ladies Only classes run 6pm-8pm Tuesday and Thursday nights, and will meet at the range 9am Saturday morning for the live fire portion of the class; afterward you will return to the shop to finish up the remaining lessons.  [These times may change some due to schedule conflicts at the range or weather.  Sometimes larger classes may run a little longer, but we strive to keep that to a minimum.]
